Joseph Royer is a Chicago-area artist, educator, and advocate who draws inspiration from topics such as visual culture, art history and abstraction, nature, and personal lived experiences. He creates contemplative and often autobiographical works which suggest identities and a search for meaning, potentiality, and life informed by the natural world. A veteran educator, Joe stepped away from full-time teaching (1998-2017) to allow for more studio time and family engagement.
